>A Jane Austen Evening

>This weekend we went to the fabulous Jane Austen evening event in Pasadena.  It’s so funny- you daydream and plan and sew and create and look forward, and then all of a sudden it’s here and gone faster than you can imagine!  This dance was a joy.  It was lovely getting to see friends I hadn’t seen in quite a while, and finally meeting a friend I have had on the internet for years but we always kept passing like two ships in the night when events came up.  My husband, of course, looked very handsome and only partly because of his wardrobe πŸ˜‰  And I felt like a fashionable lady in my “feather head” turban (I had the excuse for my spaciness) and gown that I finished in plenty of time!

And today, back to the modern world.  Computers, shipping, playing ring around the rosy with cars, and unfortunately taking one of my best girlfriends to the airport this morning means the weekend on historic dress is over!

  7. >Those gowns are so pretty! I just saw Masterpiece's new vesrsion of Emma on Sunday – your gowns look nicer than any that were featured in it.

  8. >Oh, fabulous! I was going to tease you for looking too 'old' in your gown, and then I realised that we aren't both 18 anymore, and those would be the right clothes for ladies in their late 20s!Eeek!

  9. >Thanks, everyone! Yay! It was fun to dress up.Dreamstress, it's funny you should say that because my friend Queenie (in the burgandy) and I were remarking about how we felt "old and married", and I guess we would have been then! I actually had the great cap vs no cap debate going on in my head before I settled for the turban, even though no one probably would have even cared but me :oFor daywear, though, a fluffy cap will be in order. SWEET. More lace πŸ™‚ And then I'll feel REALLY old. Even my mom won't wear a cap! Haha!

  10. >Kesenya, this is a once a year dance in Pasadena. It's at a Masonic hall and has a lovely band. There's also a tea, but we had tea at a friends house instead. Next January there will be another :)http://www.lahacal.org/austen/

    >You all look so beautiful!! I bet you all had a fabulous time! Your dress is just amazing!!! It is so beautiful and the color absolutely majestic!! You could pass off as Caroline Bingley in Pride and Prejudice! Tee hee πŸ˜€ The headdress with feathers reminds me of it to a T! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! I'll probably need a towel to wipe up the drool from the beauty, he he !
