I’ve been working on this the last few days- it’s one of the most deceptively labour intensive dresses I’ve made in a while. You know, I can’t just make a dress with a collar, and cuffs, and pockets, and flaps, but I’ve got to make it on the bias with a plaid! Doh! I absolutely love it, though- it’s got a very 1950s Western feel to it. One of the most exciting things about this dress? I had the PERFECT COLOR ZIPPER in the vintage zipper stash. Oh yes. The package said “Gold”, so I guess that’s the color of the dress- it’s a darkish yellowish orangish. Underneath this I have the polka dot skirt/petticoat and I’m very happy with the “pouf” it gives!
I made it from McCall 7563. I seem to look very little like the cover. Maybe it’s the absolutely ridiculous proportions of the model. The gal who made this originally shortened the pattern and made some alterations- I’m thinking that she made it later on, and it actually worked better- I can’t imagine the length of the dress at the intended length!
